Break It Apart Challenge & Wakelet Assignment
One of my favorite memories is going to Disneyland with my friends in 8th grade. I guess I am an ambivert. I learn best by doing hands-on projects. If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, I would eat tacos. What I’m looking forward to most this year is having complete creative control over my project. Currently, my favorite subjects are music and STEM. My favorite TV shows are How I Met Your Mother and Sherlock. I like to spend my free time reading and watching movies.
"Individually, disassemble your object, research its components, conceptual sketch it and draw an exploded view in your Engineering journal, form teams of 3-4. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE NO STUDENT IN THE CLASS WORKS ALONE. Collaborate with your team to exchange your findings, find similarities of any kind (materials, functions, sub-functions, etc...) between the group's objects, determine what question (human need) do the individual objects answer? Are they "good" objects from an Engineering standpoint? Remember an engineer would focus on the creative use of energy, materials, motion, and information to serve human needs in the evaluation of a good object. Reflect upon the process. Are the teams you are in working effectively, use the insight to determine your Capstone groups. Create a way to present your findings & the process in an effective way (you choose how) post the presentation on this assignment."

Evidence of Work
In the first step of my group's design process, we found mentors, brainstormed and selected ideas, and finally created a management plan for our team. We decided to create a robot that aids in the development of essential social skills in young children. Due to quarantine, young children have had much less social interaction with young children, so our group feels like this product addresses a serious social issue. The only competition we have costs and astounding $1,500+, so we decided to design a more affordable product.

Reflection
During this first design step, I have sharpened my compromise and collaboration skills. Through the brainstorming and planning processes, I had to compromise and collaborate with my group almost every day. I learned how to take a step back and not force my viewpoints upon other people. I now pride myself on my ability to help a successful and well-rounded conversation. One example of how I used these skills was during the brainstorming process. I was very fond of building cheap and portable housing for the homeless, while another groupmate wanted to work on AI. Although I still loved my idea, I was able to let go of my ego and entertain my groupmate's idea. That idea eventually evolved into the product we are currently working on!
There are a few things that I could work on, however. One thing is that I need to be able to communicate more effectively over online video chatting services. Although my group has been moving forward, it can be a bit tedious trying to explain something when we are not in the same room. Another thing that I need to work on is my focus. When learning from my room, I can get distracted. Even though I have improved on this whilst learning remotely, I still feel like I could improve my work ethic even more.
